List.ly

If you're a lover of lists, then List.ly may just be your new favorite tool to use!

I recently used List.ly to curate a list for our knowledge sharing assignment (you can view the list at the end of this blog) and fell in love with it. The key features include: (1) its collaborative nature of being able to create, curate, and share online resources with others, (2) the ability to embed your list within your blog; (3) its one-click nature of being able to share via social media platforms; (4) its search capability to easily find content, and (5) being able to monitor social interactions like likes, shares, and comments.

PROS:
  • ease of use
  • you can easily share it on all major social media platforms
  • they have plugins to embed your list in your blog
  • the list.ly community has access to your list if it's public so you can get a lot of views
  • other people can add articles related to your list topic (crowdsourcing)
  • you can make up to three lists for free
  • you can distribute your content to a wider audience
  • you can add tags so it's easier for others to find your list
CONS:
  • it costs $4.99 a month or $49.99 a year for the premium account (but it's totally worth it if you plan on frequently using it)
  • free version limits: (1) you can only use two of their layout options (magazine or list), (2) you can only post three lists, (3) you can only add ten items per day, and (4) your list is public

If you're new to mountain biking or the area, this list will be helpful for getting into the biking scene in Tallahassee!

  1. Interesting. Have you used this for a while or just recently for the assignment? Are all the lists ranked? What's the level of collaboration? Are groups able to jointly create a list, or is it one main creator with other people leaving comments? Thanks for the post!

  2. I like how easy it is to share resources via social media platform. But I don't think it is not my favorite to curate resources. I prefer Diigo. However, Diigo does not have powerful sharing functions. I hope I can organize resources rather than list all items. Probably because I use free version.
